VIPER releases new version of “8 de Abril”
Postado em 12/04/2025

8abril Viper has just released a new version of 8 de Abril, a track that marks the beginning of the promotion of the reissue of the album Tem Para Todo Mundo. The re-release is happening today, Friday, April 11, the date on which Pit Passarell, the author of the song and bassist of the band, would have turned 57.

The artwork for the single and the new album cover were created by Fernanda Victorello, the same artist responsible for the illustrations for Timeless. The initiative revives a controversial album from Viper’s discography, originally released in 1996 and sung entirely in Portuguese.

The new edition of Tem Para Todo Mundo brings significant changes: in addition to the updated mix, there are re-recordings and structural changes to the tracks, although parts of the original version have been preserved.

“Although it was a controversial work at the time of its release, because it had a more pop sound and lyrics in Portuguese, today I see that fans have a special affection for these songs”, comments guitarist Felipe Machado. “For years, people have been approaching me and asking for this re-release. The world was very different thirty years ago and at the time, what seemed unacceptable in terms of sound, today seems normal”.

In the 1996 version, the album was produced by Mayrton Bahia (known for his work with Legião Urbana) and recorded at AR Studios, in Rio de Janeiro. The new version, in turn, was produced by Val Santos and Felipe Machado himself, with sessions held in Campinas and São Paulo.

In addition to the digital debut, the re-release will feature CD and vinyl editions, with no confirmed dates yet. The album’s name has also been slightly adjusted, changing from the informal spelling Tem Pra Todo Mundo to the corrected form Tem Para Todo Mundo. The project is a joint release by Wikimetal Music and FMLabs, and is part of the “Tem Para Todo Mundo” tour.

Currently formed by Leandro Caçoilo (vocals), Felipe Machado and Kiko Shred (guitars), Dani Matos (bass) and Guilherme Martin (drums), Viper was the first Brazilian heavy metal band to achieve great success in Japan. In the early 1990s, they topped the charts ahead of major international names such as Nirvana and Van Halen. With albums such as Soldiers of Sunrise, Theatre of Fate and Evolution, Viper has recorded and toured Europe, the US and South America. During the tour in Japan, they recorded the live album Maniacs in Japan – Viper Live. The band’s first lineup included vocalist Andre Matos, who later left the group to form Angra and Shaman. The vocalist passed away in 2019, and Viper paid tribute to him with the song/video The Spreading Soul Forever. Released in 2023, Viper’s new album, Timeless, was their first album of new material in 15 years. In 2024, Viper suffered another tragedy: the death of bassist and vocalist Pit Passarell, a victim of cancer. Dani Matos, Andre Matos’ brother, took his place.
